Custom Shipping Container Compressed Air System
We recently completed a project with a customer that specializes in paperboard product manufacturing. They contacted us regarding a custom shipping container compressed air system for one of their locations down south. They were looking for a complete compressed air system with a refrigerated air dryer, filters, wet and dry air receivers, and a condensate separator in a turn-key, engineered and pre-assembled container package.
We got straight to work and sourced them a 75 HP Quincy Compressor QGV Rotary Screw Compressor, 200-gallon wet air receiver, roof-mounted 400-gallon dry air receiver, a Quincy QPNC-530 Non-Cycling Refrigerated Air Dryer, with a Nano condensate separator and all the necessary filtration. This was all installed in a custom fabricated 20’ shipping container enclosure. The container package consisted of:
- Reinforced ceiling to support the exterior-mounted 400-gallon air receiver, painted gray to match exterior.
- Walls insulated with InSofast® brand insulation and sheeted with ½-inch plywood.
- One “manually controlled” steel rollup door.
- One standard man door with awning.
- A Bard® 2-ton AC unit (240v).
- A thermostatically controlled exhaust fan and intake louver gravity damper (fail-safe in case of AC unit failure).
- Inlet and outlet ductwork for the air compressor.
- An outlet with a gate to re-circulate the exhausted hot air back into enclosure.
- 120V, 240V, 480V electrical service panel and transformer, electrical components & wire-way, three electrical outlets, two interior LED lights, one exterior LED light at man-door, and electrical connections.
Other valuable benefits the customer will experience include the 10-year Quincy extended airend warranty, 5-year Quincy extended warranty on motor, coupling, separator tank, cooler, and the 100,000+ hour bearing life of these units. Lastly, we set them up with Quincy’s ICONS connectivity system so they can proactively plan service and maintenance by remotely monitoring compressor performance.
They now have a turn key, modular, energy-efficient compressed air system in a climate-controlled and protected environment. We are confident that they will experience years or trouble-free operation, providing peace-of-mind so they can focus on scaling production.
